HIGHLAND



Highland is the largest council area in the UK and the administrative centre is in Inverness. The council area does not cover the whole of the Scottish Highlands. Places such as Aviemore, Culloden, Fort William, Glencoe, John o'Groats, Ullapool and Wick and lots more towns and villages are in the council area.

There is no information with regard to motorhomes. Finding a car park on the site is near impossible.
Inverness - try the postcode IV1. The Eastgate Shopping Centre is IV2 3PP which may help.

Cromerty
The Links is a grassy area on the banks of the Cromerty Firth. Lovely views. Cruise ships come into Invergordon and sail right past The Links. A lady from a nearby house came to tell us that it was OK to stay the night.

Fort Augustus - In main car park in the town centre just off the main road Fort William to Inverness Road (A82). 8 designated spaces signed on road surface 'Motorised Caravans Only' situated at rear of car park next to Coach Parking. LS.

West End car park has spaces for MH. long and wide. £2 per day and just a short walk into town.
'An Ard' car park also has spaces for Mh but didn't check it out.

Neptunes Staircase is a series of locks on the Caledonian Canal which are very peaceful and there is a good big car park there with no H or W barriers. About 3 miles out of Fort William.

Glenfinnan Viaduct (of Harry Potter fame). Parking at the visitors centre but quite tight especially for longer vehicles. This is not a large car park and you may find it is difficult to park. Our outfit is just under 6 m and we got in ok. Free parking for National Trust members.

Inverness
Castle Road. Parking at side of road.
Morrisons Eastgate. 3 hours parking and short walk into town.

Just outside Inverness runs the Caledonian Canal and there is a caravan site, Torvean Caravan Park, a few yards from the towpath. Don't know what it is like. Just saw it as we were driving past.

Nairn - Large cp overlooking Moray Firth. OK to wild camp.
