Motor Homes should find any verge bays where the vehicle’s rear overhang can allow the vehicle to fit in one bay. Otherwise, the current policy on fee paid car parks is that the motor home driver must purchase two fee paid tickets one for each of the bays occupied or part occupied, for the amount of time they want to park and display them side by side on the dashboard.
The following car parks may be used for larger vehicles: (height restrictions apply to towns in Cheshire East not listed):

  • Alsager – Fairview Car Park (is near centre of town but no others suitable)
  • Audlem – Cheshire Street Car Park (free - may be difficult to navigate)
  • Bollington – Pool Bank (free)

Large vehicles which exceed the size of a standard marked bay should take a ticket from the machine marked as ‘Coaches and Oversize vehicles.’

Chester
Parking is available at the Little Roodee (CH1 1SL) car park just out of the city centre with 452 spaces. It has an up/down barrier with attendant. You park in the coach/lorry bays but must pay the coach tariff. Turn left or right out of the car park to access the city walls which take you into the centre of Chester. Right is quicker. Left to racecourse. This is an overnight cp as well.
Cycle route 568 is just out of the car park.

Cheshire Oaks - Outlet centre with large car park although spaces are tight. Buses from here to Liverpool and Chester. X8 is very quick, 1 is slower.

Chester Park and Ride - There are 4 sites around the city. There is an over height area at each for motorhomes
Boughton Heath CH3 5QD
, off the A41 Whitchurch Road.
Sealand Road CH1 4LD, on the A548 opposite the car dealerships.
Upton CH2 4BA, near the Zoo. As an area for motorhomes before the barrier and no key needed. LP.
Wrexham Road CH4 9DQ
, off the A483 opposite Chester Business Park. The over height area is always locked and you have to ask for the car and agin when exiting. LP.

Shropshire Union Canal - from Chester to bridge 131 towards Ellesmere Port excellent surface for cycling. Still firm but breaking up until 133 at Brackford.

Grosvenor Garden Centre - Wrexham Road, Chester, CH4 9EB - Take Junction 9 off the A55 expressway into Wales, turn left onto A483, then left onto B5445 ( literally a couple of minutes off the A55). A good place to break a journey into Wales. No height restriction and size is not a problem. There is a very large car park which also caters for coach visitors. A nice cafe, large store - food and home products, outdoor clothing. (and even flowers!) PB
