The county Council no longer exists as the unitary authorities below control the county. The cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland are the largest by population and Gateshead, South Shields and Tynemouth are next in line.

Coaches and wide/long vehicles can park in standard bays provided they pay for each bay that they occupy.
Tynemouth - Beaconsfield Car Park - takes long vehicles and coaches.
Tynemouth - Grand Parade Car Park (rear of Blue Reef Aquarium) - takes long vehicles and coaches.
Whitley Bay - Bournemouth Gardens Car Park - takes long vehicles and coaches.
Whitley Bay - Brierdene Car Park - takes long vehicles and coaches.
Whitley Bay - St Mary's Island Car Park (North) (adjacent to lighthouse) - takes long vehicles and coaches.
Whitley Bay - St Mary's Island Car Park (South) (off Trinity Road) - takes long vehicles and coaches.

Motor home parking in South Tyneside
Large vehicles can purchase multiple tickets to cover the number of bays they use, as long as they are parked in a responsible manner.
South Tyneside Council off street pay & display car parks do not allow overnight camping.

There is no information on the website concerning motorhome parking. There is no height information either.

Newcastle City Council states
Please note that no height restrictions are in place across the network of open-air surface car parks.
So that your motorhome can be parked safely and legally and to avoid difficulties, please contact the Parking Enforcement Supervisors in the first instance on 0191 277 2739 to discuss the size of the vehicle to be parked and the area that you would like to park it in. They also state a max weight for vehicles is 1524 kg and a length of 6.1 metres.
Newcastle Parking Services operate a coach and HGV parking facility at Ord Street, NE4 7AD that can also be used for parking a motorhome.


Gateshead Council

No information for motorhomes. There is a coach park but this is strictly for coaches only.
