LANCASHIRE



Lancaster is the county town but Preston is the admin HQ. An industrial county it contains many mill towns including Accrington, Blackburn, Bolton, Preston, and Wigan. Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen are unitary authorities.



Lancashire County Council

There are 3 P & R sites in Lancashire, 2 serving Preston and one for Lancaster. There is no height information.
Preston - Walton-le-Dale PR5 4AR.
Preston - Portway park - The Portway park and ride is split over two sites, Portway and Hartington Road. The Portway site is accessed off Portway whilst the Hartington Road site is accessed off Hartington Road.
Lancaster Park and Ride - LA2 9HG - Adj to Jct 34 of the M6. Long vehicles would have difficulty turning at the gates. No overnight sleeping. Bus runs every 30 mins into Lancaster. No service Sunday and Bank Holiday.



Blackpool Council - a unitary authority. Blackpool.

Motorhomes of all descriptions are not allowed to use any on street pay and display bays even with a blue badge and clock.

Motorhomes are allowed to park (in a coach bay) in the following car parks:-
Foxhall Village FY1 6JX,
Gynn Square FY1 2JR,
Lytham Road cp FY4 1HT,
Seasiders FY1 6JX (this may change during peak times),
South cp FY1 6BF.
A 12 hour motorhome tariff is now available at these sites for £10. Over-night sleeping is allowed, but, not the use of or setting up of any outdoor equipment.



Blackburn with Darwen Council - a unitary authority. Blackburn, Darwen.

There are currently no designated areas within Blackburn with Darwen where we permit the parking of motorhomes.



Burnley Borough Council - Burnley, Padiham.


'Burnley Borough Council is unable to provide parking for Motorhomes due to the height restrictions and design constraints currently in place on its car parks.' From the council's website.

The largest car parks include:-
Chorley - Friday Street - 163 spaces. No height information.
Chorley - Queens Road - 102 spaces. No height information.



Fylde Borough Council - Lytham, St Annes, Wesham, Kirkham.

St. Annes
OS Landranger 102: Explorer Blackpool and Preston 286
Parking for oversized vehicles behind the swimming pool on the sea front. 7 spaces.

Fairhaven Road parking. MH friendly but must pay for each bay taken. Also Fairlawn Road has 5 spaces for long stay - £10 for 24hrs or £15 for 48hrs. This leads immediately to sea front promenade for cycling or walking. KI.

South end of St. Annes there is roadside parking. No length marks but there is a width mark.

Stanner Bank car park. Good parking overlooking Fairhaven Lake and adjacent to the beach.



Hyndburn Borough Council - Accrington, Oswaldtwistle.


Very difficult to find the car parks in the council area. There are 34 but no other details are available.



Lancaster City Council - Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham, Carnforth.

Morecambe
OS Landranger 97 and 102: Explorer Lancaster, Morecambe and Fleetwood 296
Marine Drive. Roadside parking if you can get a space.

At the south end of Morecambe there is a car park called Breakwater. This has 2 coach places but next these spaces there are 4 bays that are long and wide ideal for MH but cars park here so may be difficult to get a spot. This car park does have height barriers but these are open in the day time. Don't know if and when they are closed.

Leighton Moss RSPB. - Large car park. I parked in 2 places without interfering in other parking spaces.



Pendle Borough Council - Nelson, Colne, Barnoldswick.

Preston City Council - Preston, Beacon Fell.

Ribble Valley Borough Council - Clitheroe, Longridge, Ribchester, Whalley.

Rossendale Borough Council - Bacup, Whitworth. Rawtenstall, Haslingden.

South Ribble Borough Council - Leyland, Higher Penwortham.

West Lancashire Borough Council - Ormskirk, Skelmersdale.

Wyre Borough Council - Poulton-le-Fylde, Fleetwood, Cleveleys, Thornton, Garstang.


It is the home of picturesque towns including Fleetwood, Garstang, Poulton-le-Fylde and Thornton Cleveleys.
Most of the town centre car parks have height barriers. The following car parks can be accessed by drivers of motorhome or oversized vehicles.
Except where noted below, motorhomes or oversized vehicles that are too large to fit in the standard parking bays may park in more than one marked bay; on Pay & Display car parks multiple tickets must be purchased and displayed to cover the number of spaces that the vehicle occupies.
It is not permitted to sleep or camp overnight in any car park.

Thornton:
Free car parks - Stanah Countryside Park - Height barriers can be opened on request at Rangers Office. Thornton YMCA - height barriers closed at night.

Fleetwood
Free car parks - Marine Hall - height barriers closed at night.

OS Landranger 102: Explorer Lancaster, Morecambe and Fleetwood 296
Roadside opposite the North Euston Hotel alongside the small lighthouse. Nose into spaces that are quite wide and will take a 6m MH. This is the Esplanade. On Promenade Road off Esplanade, there is some overnight parking but not sure of cost. KI.

Also in front of The Mount. There are no length or width barriers here.

There is a small car park in front of the model boat lake.


Garstang:
Pay & Display car parks - High Street - car park has speed bumps. Parking to right rear of car park.

Poulton:
Pay & Display car parks - Hardhorn Road
Free car parks - Civic Centre - parking to rear only - height barrier closed at 5pm, Poulton Sports Centre - restricted to 4.8m length.

Cleveleys:
Pay & Display car parks - Derby Road West, Rough Lea Road - max 2 hours, North Promenade - restricted to 4.8m length: max 2 hours, Jubilee Gardens - restricted to 4.8m length.

Knott End:
Free car parks - Quaile Holme Road - Extended bays marked in centre of car park. Please note there are height barriers on this car park which are normally open.
