Great Yarmouth Borough Council - Great Yarmouth, Caister-on-Sea, Fleggburgh, Gorleston on Sea, Hemsby,

Following an email from Peter.
'Further to your query, there are parking restrictions on campervans/ motorhomes in all Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) managed car parks, and so they are not permitted to park in these areas. Other restricted vehicles are caravans and trailers, who also cannot be accommodated in any GYBC car parks. These restrictions are in place due to the size of the spaces in the car parks - larger vehicles do not fit into them and then tend to encroach onto other spaces and the driving/ walking areas, potentially creating hazards. Also, the restriction of these vehicles is implemented on safety grounds - camping vehicle and caravan users have disposed of chemical toilet and domestic waste at the car parks on occasion, causing health hazards and the closure of the car parks.

Larger vehicles can be accommodated on our roadsides and roadside bays, which is the advice we offer to drivers of larger vehicles.' Thanks Peter.

It seems that the car parks are closed to motorhomes because of the Parking Order 2011 which states:-
'All classes are allowed (in the car parks) except
(i) vehicle exceeding 1.524 tonnes in weight, 5m in total length, 2m in height.' This applies to all the car parks in the order.
